The mother of a 2-year-old boy who was found dead in a Grimes home last week has died.
The Polk County Sheriff’s office says Mason Wycoff was found dead last Friday following a call to the home, and his mother 33-year-old Stephanie Erickson, was found unresponsive.
Erickson was taken to a Des Moines hospital in serious condition. The sheriff’s department says Erickson died yesterday morning. The department says in a news release autopsies are pending on both and they have not released the causes of death or other details.
Media reports say Erickson was in a custody battle with Wycoff’s father.
