Website gives info on electric restructuring

March 11, 1999 By admin

The Iowa Energy Center is offering a website to help you understand what’s happening with the restructuring of the electric industry in Iowa. The industry is moving toward an open service system that would let you chose your own electric company. Energy Center Director Floyd Barwig says the website was developed after the center did a survey on what people know about Iowa’s electric industry and found most people don’t know a greatdeal about it. He says the website should answer all your questions about electricity — or tell you where to find the answers. You can access thewebsite at: www.energy.iastate.edu. The Iowa Energy Center was created by the legislature to conduct research on energy efficiency and renewable energy. The center is funded by a surcharge on electric and gas sales.
