Explosion damages northwest Iowa mill

An explosion and fire in Plymouth county in far northwest Iowa today injureda co-op worker. The Mayor of Craig, Milo De-Young says the explosionhappened in the mill portion of the farmers co-operative when an employeestarted to grind grain.The co-op employee, Owen Smith, is being treated for burns and is listed ingood condition at a Sioux City hospital. De-Young says the explosionseriously damaged the building and he says it’s likely the structure willhave to be torn down. De-Young says 220 people live in the town and theco-op is its largest employer.
