Former NFL player supports Bauer

Former Green Bay Packer defensive lineman Reggie White hopes to be aunifying force for Black America. White was in Des Moines yesterday to lendhis support to Republican presidential candidate Gary Bauer.White said he’s tired of politicians using black people as “pawns.”White, however, said he won’t seek political office to achieve his goal.White calls the Colorado school slayings “dismaying.”White said it’s time to attack the problem where it starts. White said themedia and entertainment industry bear some responsibility for inspiring thestudents who committed the massacre.White’s friendship with Bauer began last year. Bauer threw a luncheon inWhite’s honor following his controversial comments before the Wisconsinlegislature. White has just released a book, entitled “Fighting the GoodFight.”
