Candidate says gun laws not the answer

Potential republican presidential candidate John Kasich says gunrestrictions alone won’t cure what’s causing school shootings. He says theproblem is a deteriorations of families and schools. During taping of the Iowa Public Television program, Iowa Press, Kasichoutlined his ideas for turning the country around, such as providing betterday care and promoting the idea of “flex time” so parents can job share andspend more time with their kids.Kasich, who’s an Ohio Congressman, says it’s time for Americans to refocuson public morality.Kasich supports some forms of gun control, such as background checks ofthose who buy weapons at gun shows and raising the age for legal assault-gunownership to 21. Kasich — the chairman of the House Budget Committee — iscampaigning in Winterset, Panora, Harlan and Council Bluffs today.
