Girls track champs crowned

Iowa City High won the Class 3-A title at the Girls State Track Meet, edgingIowa City West by three points. Iowa City High’s Michelle Lilienthalbroke a 28-year-old record in the 15-hundred meter run. Her time: four-minutes-34-seconds. Atlantic defended its championship in the Class 2-A race, holding offWilliamsburg. Coach Bruce Henderson says this year’s victory was differentfrom last year’s as he was able to relax with a large lead.South Winneshiek won the 1-A crown and their coach.
