Harkin holds forums on youth violence

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin is holding forums in classrooms across the statetoday on school violence. Harkin says he wants to hear straight fromstudents their ideas on the issue. Harkin, a democrat, says we need to look closely at the products theentertainment industry is putting on the shelf.Harkin was in Mason City this morning where Mayor Bill Schickel is askingstores to consider restricting the sale of violent video games and movies.Harkin says he supports Schickel’s move.Harkin is the senior democrat on the senate appropriations subcommitte thatfunds education programs.
