Carillon festival comes to Ames

Bells will be ringing at Iowa State University this week as the schoolhosts the 57th Congress of the Guild of Carillonneurs fromAcross North America. The conference runs Wednesday through Saturday. Tin-Shi Tam has been playing the bells at the Iowa State Campanile Tower forthe last few years. Tam, who is originally from Hong Kong, describes theevent.One of the highlights of the event will be a multimedia presentation onWednesday evening called “The Bells of Iowa State – An Enduring Tradition”Other recitals will be given on Wednesday and Saturday. This is the thirdtime Iowa State will host the Congress. Previous times were in 1965 and1980. This is the 100th anniversary of the Campanile Tower at I-S-U.
