Imagine having all your wedding expenses paid for — by your employer.One of the state’s largest private businesses has footed the bill for thenoon-time wedding of employee Lori Davis. Davis was one of 25 PrincipalFinancial group employees who entered a company contest which aimed toteach employees to prepare for the future. Today’s ceremony was staged outdoors in the plaza outside one of thecompany’s buildings in downtown Des Moines. Earlier this week, Principalmanagers staged a “shower” during which financial experts talked about howcouple can plan for mortages, babies and retirement.Principal Vice President Karen Brett says companies around the nation arerealizing they need to educate their employees about preparing for thefuture.Brett says for a couple to be “financially responsible,” they shouldlive within their means and make sure they’re socking money away forretirement.
