ISU basketball player arrested on sex abuse charges

An Iowa State University basketball player was arrested today on sexualabuse charges. Ames police Sergeant Jim Robinson says officers arrested21-year-old Travis Spivey this morning.on two, third degree sexual abuse charges folling a complaint by two girlswho are 15- and 17-years-old.The two girls say Spivey sexually assaulted them at his appartment on June12th. Spivey admitted in court documents to having sex with the 15-year-old.Spivey is being held on a 30-thousand dollar bond. The University saysSpivey has been suspended from the team indefinately under athleticdepartment policy. Head basketball coach Larry Eustachy released a writtenstatement saying Spivey will be dismissed from the team if he is convicted.
