Powerball jackpot hits 100 million

The Powerball jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing has crept into 9-digitterritory — 100-million dollars. Iowa Lottery spokesman Joe Hrdlicka saysthe big prize pot is stirring up a lot of players who don’t often plunk downthe buck for a ticket.The Iowa Lottery’s fiscal year ends next week, June 30th. Hrdlicka says thedivision is expecting to have 180-million dollars in sales. While it’s not arecord-breaker, Hrdlicka says it’s still a good haul.Hrdlicka says about 45-million dollars from this fiscal year’s earnings willgo directly back to the state of Iowa.The record year for the lottery was 1995 when sales hit nearly 208-milliondollars.
