Forbes critical of Bush strawpoll strategy

The man who’s using his personal fortune to bankroll his presidentialcampaign is accusing rival George W. Bush of attempting a “hostiletake-over” of the Iowa Republican Party’s August Strawpoll.Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes is critical of a Bushcampaign memo which called upon Washington, D.C. lobbyists to line-up Iowansto attend the Strawpoll and vote for Bush.Forbes, in his second campaign for the presidency, is touting himself as the”change agent” in the race, and Forbes says Bush will be beholden to thespecial interests who are helping the Bush campaign.Forbes made his comments while campaigning in Ames on Saturday.
