Grassley bill supports alternative energy

A bill that’d extend tax credits on wind energy and help “biomass” energyalternatives is being introduced in the U-S Senate today by Iowa republicanChuck Grassley. He says the legislation will foster more development ofrenewable resources.Grassley says the bill would extend the tax credits on wind energy for fivemore years — the incentives expired last month. Grassley says the measurewould also re-define and help “bio-mass” energy production. He says he gotthe idea for the measure after visiting Iowa’s Sheraton Valley BiomassProject.In biomass energy production, alternatives to coal are burned to makeelectricity — crops like switchgrass or wood chips, ag byproducts andconstruction debris.
