ISU softball lands record setters

Iowa State University’s softball team is in line to land two recruits whoare on the verge of breaking national records. Last fall,Woodward-Granger pitcher Jen Bice signed a letter of intent to be a Cyclone.This summer, Bice is nearing a national record for strike-outs in a season.I-S-U Softball coach Ruth Crowe (crow) says with the addition of Bice, theCyclones could be a solid team.Iowa State could also have Fort Madison’s Erica Martinez as a walk-on nextseason. Martinez has 22 home runs this season. She has 45 in her highschool career: a new state record. Crowe cannot comment on Martinez, butsays she’s anxious to see how her team will shape up.The Cyclones had only one scholarship available after last season when ErinWoods graduated.
