July 22, 1999 By admin

Gas prices are going up. The average price for a gallon of self-service,unleaded gas was one-dollar-and-ten cents on July 15th according to stateofficials. That’s three cents more than last month and seven cents abovethe price a year ago. David Downing of the Iowa Department of NaturalResources says the primary reason for the gas-price jump is that crude oilprices are increasing. But Downing says there’s been record demand for gas, too. Downing says you should get used to the higher pump prices. On Monday of this week, the NATIONAL average price for a gallon of gas wasa dollar 14.
