State Emergency Management officials say they’re working to get additionalcounties declared federal disaster areas following last week’s flooding.Black Hawk, Butler, Jones and Woodbury counties were declared federaldisaster areas last week for flooding earlier this month. State coordinatorSteve Zimmerman says if you live in one of those counties, or in one of therecently flooded counties, you should call the federal assistance number andregister.You can call 800-462-9029 to register. Bremer, Chickasaw, Howard, CerroGordo, Floyd, Mitchell and Worth counties have been declared STATE disasterareas. Zimmerman says residents of those counties should also register usingthe federal number.Zimmerman says there have been so many areas hit, it has taken some time tocompile all the damage estimates. He says it looks as though some countiesmay qualify for the federal designation.Zimmerman says they hope to have some actual numbers on the amount of damagelater today.
