Governor Vilsack has launched an effort to streamline government, enlistingthe ideas of state workers. The goal is to improve quality and efficiencyin state government.One of the four projects Vilsack highlighted today was the Simplified Taxand Wage Reporting System. Two state agencies and the I-R-S created thesystem to save private companies time when filing tax reports.Another project Vilsack highlighted was the State of Iowa FacilitiesImprovement Corporation. He says it helps the state save on energy costs. Vilsack also honored achievements in analyzing marijuana andmethamphetamine. Vilsack will to travel to the state prison in Fort Dodge,and state agencies in Ames and Eldora today to talk about the initiative.
