A former Iowa State University shot putter is the National State Games'”athlete of the year.” Jamie Beyer won the Iowa Games shot put title with athrow of more than 61-feet and also won the discus competition. Beyer saysthe Iowa Games helped him prepare for the Pan Am Games and hopes it willboost him into the Olympics.The Monroe native says he is glad he got to compete in the Iowa Games.The Olympic trials are next July.
