Week honors downtowns

This coming week is Iowa Downtown Week as people across the state are beinglured into their cities’ central business districts for all sorts of events.Jane Seaton is assistant director of Main Street Iowa, which is promotingthe revitalization of Iowa’s downtowns. She says there were dozens ofpromotional events held during this week last year.The events range from coffee breaks and clean-up efforts to farmers markets,cookouts and concerts. Seaton says Iowa is developing a national reputationfor saving many of its downtowns.The Iowa Downtown Conference is kicking off on Monday in the western Iowatown of Atlantic.
