Speed limit goes up on two stretched of highway

The speed limit has increased from 55 to 65 miles-an-hour on about 45 milesof Iowa roadway. Iowa Department of Transportation engineer, Tim Crouch,says the speed limit’s been increased on 31 miles of Iowa Highway 163 fromthe Polk County line to Pella in central Iowa. Crouch says this brings thewhole stretch of 163 up to 65 miles-an-hour.The speed limit on a 14-mile section of U-S 218 from Cedar Falls to Waverlyis also now 65. Crouch says other highways which are being widened to fourlanes will also likely see their speed limits increase to 65 miles-an-hour.Crouch says there are some two-hundred miles of four-lane highways in thestate that have posted speed limits of 65.
