October 4, 1999 By admin

Governor Vilsack says his recent trade trip to Asia underscored the need tomake China a member of the World Trade Organization.China’s membership in the World Trade Organization is supported by many inthe Republican and Democratic parties, but others say it’s improper to grantthe special trade status to China when human rights abuses are stillprevalent. Vilsack says China is an incredibly important market — and points out everyday China’s population expands by three-million — roughly the equivalent ofIowa’s population.
