Former President Bush visits Iowa

October 11, 1999 By admin

Former President George Bush was in Iowa this past weekend, delivering speeches in Storm Lake, Iowa City and Cedar Falls. He closed his remarks in Cedar Falls with a message to those who do not support his son’s bid for the republican party’s next presidential nomination. Bush expressed concerns about the national media which has been reporting unconfirmed rumors about his son, George W.’s personal life. Bush said the media is frightening good people away from thinking about politics. On Saturday evening, Bush spoke at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, a speech which focused on his presidency. His Saturday morning speech in Iowa City helped Republicans raise money for legislative candidates and his mid-day speech in Cedar Falls benefitted Black Hawk County Republicans.
