One of Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley’s staff members is now in the formerSoviet Union to check on the welfare of a former Iowa man being held in theRepublic of Georgia. Grassley says his staffer is working to meet LorenWille, who was involved in a car accident that killed a Georgiannational.Grassley’s foreign policy advisor Rebecca Shimpkas will be in Georgia a fewmore days and will provide an indepth report upon her return. Senator TomHarkin’s office has also sent a staff person to Georgia. Wille originallylived in the Cedar Rapids area & still has family there. He was in Georgiaworking for Catholic Relief Services.
