Widows and Widowers gather for fun day

The 18th annual A-A-R-P “Fun Day” for Iowa’s widows and widowers is thisweekend. The gathering helps widowed people connect with other Iowans in thesame position according to Janice Minarsich (mine-arsh) who coordinates theevent.The fun day will be held at Pilgrim Heights Camp in Montour Saturday,October 16th. Minarsich believes the program offers fellowship and supportin a fun way.The group usually includes around 35 people from all over the state.Minarsich says some come back every year.She recommends newly-widowed people wait at least four months before theyparticipate in such events. A-A-R-P also offers a spring seminar for widowedpersons. For more information, contact the Iowa A-A-R-P office in DesMoines.
