Soybean and corn associations form an alliance

Two of Iowa’s largest commodities groups launch a joint venture today.The Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Soybean Association haveformed what they call a membership alliance. Growers can now pay onemembership fee to become members of both organizations.Corn Growers Association president Ron Litterer says most farmers in Iowagrow both corn and soybeans and many are already members of bothassociations. Now, they’ll be able to save money with one membership feethat’ll put them in both groups. He says that’s the only difference.Litterer farms in Floyd County near Greene. He hopes the number of memberswill grow with this joint venture.A one-year membership in the Corn Growers is 40 dollars, while it costs 50to join the Soybean Association. The new combined membership is 75 dollars.
