Pipeline blast killes one in NE Iowa

November 12, 1999 By admin

Authorities have released the names of the workers killed and injured in last night’s natural gas pipeline rupture in Fayette County. 41-year-old Daniel Reedy of Waterloo was killed in the blast. 48-year-old Gary Davis of Waterloo was injured and taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City. Two other workers weren’t as badly hurt. A crater 30-feet wide was left by the blast which is still under investigation. Some rural Fayette County residents were evacuated for three hours and now many People’s Natural Gas customers in several cities are being told to turn down their thermostats due to the diminished gas pressure following the accident. Gas has been completely cut off to Maynard.
