McCarney says team has closed the gap

Iowa State coach Dan McCarney believes the football program showed improvement this past season. The Cyclones finished 4-7, one game better than a year ago but McCarney says with a couple of breaks it could have been a much different season. He says his team has closed the gap between others in the conference.McCarney is hopeful more progress will be shown next season which will feature a senior class of 26 players.McCarney says if the Cyclones could have beaten Kansas State or Texas the season might have been different.
