Project looks for photographes to shoot Iowa faces

December 4, 1999 By admin

An industrious millennium project is being undertaken by the Des Moines Art Center that’s recruiting photographers in every Iowa county. The shutter bugs are needed to shoot pictures of people in certain places who are also of certain ages,Laura Burkhalter is the Art Center’s curatorial assistant and is coordinating the “Faces of Iowa” project. She says the final work will be 99 pictures of people, one from each county, who range in age from one to 99-years-old. A 100th picture will be added of a child born in the year 2000. Burkhalter says photographers are still needed in many Iowa counties. For more information on becoming a photographer for the project, call Burkhalter at (515) 271-0319 or the Art Center at (515) 277-4405.
