Hawks and Cyclones meet on the hardwood

December 10, 1999 By admin

The 52nd meeting between Iowa and Iowa State is tomorrow night in Hilton Colesium. The Cyclones are 6-2 after a victory over Milwaukee-Wisconsin. Coach Larry Eustachy says in a game of this magnitude, both teams need their best players to come through.Last year, Marcus Fizer had a frstrating game against Iowa as he finished with just two-points and received a technical foul. Eustachy says hopefully Fizer has learned from that game.Eustachy says the key for the Hawkeyes is guard Dean Oliver. The Hawkeyes are 5-3. Iowa coach Steve Alford played in Hilton while at Indiana and knows it will be a tough environment for his team.Alford says it reminds him of the Indiana-Purdue rivalry.Rod Thompson had 15-points off the bench in the Hawks win at U-N-I and he says the game against Iowa State will be another tough chore.
