Many Iowa kids are playing with brand new toys today, courtesy of a settlement with a major toy manufacturer. Bob Brammer, a spokesman for the Iowa’s Attorney General, says the settlement came after several states alleged toy companies had illegally tried to restrict the sale and supply of their most popular toys. The toy companies agreed to settle the suit by donating thousands of dollars of toys to the “Toys for Tots” program in Iowa. Brammer says the Mattel company sent extra toys after concerns were raised about toy quality. Brammer says Mattel sent Iowa more than five-thousand new toys. The additional shipment included 41-thousand dollars worth of toys. Brammer says all the toys were handed out to needy kids in Iowa.
