Fayette man pleads guilty in wild driving incident

January 6, 2000 By admin

A Fayette man has reached a plea agreement in an incident where he allegedly tried to run over students with his car on the Upper Iowa University campus. 21-year old Jeremiah Boynton (boy-en-ton) pleaded guilty to operating his car while intoxicated and assault with a dangerous weapon. The incident happened September 29th when Boynton allegedly drove at high speeds and ran onto the grass in an attempt to run down students and security officers. Boynton eventually crashed into a brick wall. Angry students dragged Boynton out of his car and smashed in the car windows with baseball bats. Boynton received a suspended jail sentence and was ordered to pay restitution.
