The Iowa Hawkeyes took 11th ranked Indiana to the limit before falling 74-71 in Bloomington last night. The Hawkeyes led by as many as seven in the second half before the Hoosiers rallied and Iowa coach Steve Alford said his team gave a tremendous effort Iowa had two chances at the end. Kyle Galloway missed a three pointer with 11-seconds remaining and the Hawks down by two and Rob Griffin missed a three pointer that could have tied it as time expired.The most anticipated parts of the game dealt with the two coaches. Alford and Bob Knight exchanged words prior to and after the game. Alford said Knight was very cordial and told him to have a good game.Indiana coach Bob Knight says Iowa gave a spirited effort. Knight says Iowa got its lead too early in the game and his team was able to come back without playing particularily well. Knight says the other team always has something to do with it when a team doesn’t play well.
