Letters look to lure graduates back to Iowa

January 28, 2000 By admin

Iowa college graduates who’ve moved to other states will soon get letters trying to lure them back.More than 215-thousand letters touting Iowa’s benefits are going to people who sought fortunes elsewhere after getting degrees from Iowa’s public, private & community colleges. Kay Snyder is team leader for the Iowa Human Resource Recruitment Consortium, which launched the direct-mail campaign.Snyder says the letters target people in a variety of fields, including: information technology, finance, engineering, business and life sciences. Though they’re hard to track, Snyder says a couple dozen people have already moved back to Iowa for new jobs. The packets include personal appeals from Governor Vilsack & details of the recruiter website: www.smartcareermove.com
