Daffodils bring spring and help cancer research

February 21, 2000 By admin

Iowans who would like to have the fragrance and beauty of springtime in their homes may consider ordering bright yellow flowers to benefit charity. American Cancer Society offices statewide are taking orders now for next month’s “Daffodil Days” event.Lois Brinkman, of the southeast Iowa town of Danville, is a Cancer Society volunteer, who says the event raises money for research and education. She says Iowans need to order their flowers before Friday of this week for them to be delivered in mid-March. Brinkman says you get ten daffodils for a six-dollar donation.Brinkman says the daffodils are the symbol of spring, but also symbolize hope in the fight against cancer. To order the flowers, call your local Cancer Society office or 800-ACS-2345.
