Fuel prices upset truckers

Iowa motorists aren’t the only ones frustrated with the rising costs of fuel. Diesel prices are also bounding along with gasoline prices. Scott Weeser is president of the Iowa Motor Truck Association and says his members are being hit very hard by the rapidly rising prices.Weeser says his members are keeping a close eye on rising diesel prices all across Iowa.Big rig drivers drove their 18-wheelers into Washington D-C today as part of a protest, but Weeser says he’s unaware of any similar demonstrations planned for Iowa. He says lawmakers are just as angered by the fuel price hikes as truckers.Diesel prices in Iowa are averaging a dollar-45. That’s 12 cents over last month and 43 cents higher than a year ago. Iowans are now paying a dollar-38 on average per gallon for gasoline, an increase of 17 cents from last month and 48 cents higher than February a year ago.
