Vilsack finally endorses Gore

March 6, 2000 By admin

Tom Vilsack made it official today: he’s endorsed Vice President Al Gore in the democratic race for President. Vilsack says Gore is willing to work hard, and willing to fight, which is what’s going to be required for victory in November. Vilsack refused to endorse either Gore or challenger Bill Bradley before Iowa’s Caucuses, but has now publicly offered his endorsement on the eve of “Super Tuesday” voting in 16 states, an event many consider will bring about Bradley’s exit from the race. Governor Vilsack’s wife, Christie, endorsed Gore months before the Iowa Caucuses, and Vilsack said on Caucus Night that his own endorsement would be going to Gore ‘when the time was right.’ Yesterday, Vilsack’s spokesman told a reporter to bring up the issue at the Governor’s weekly news conference.
