Vets who left to fight will get diplomas

March 7, 2000 By admin

Here’s a salute to Iowa’s remaining World War II veterans. The Iowa House has passed a bill which would give high school diplomas to World War II vets who quit school to serve their country. That’s Representative Patrick Shey, a republican from Cedar Rapids. Shey expects the Iowa Senate to endorse the move, too, so a special diploma ceremony can be scheduled for Veterans Day in November.
