Senator Harkin says send Elian home with father

April 6, 2000 By admin

The father of Cuban shipwreck survivor Elian Gonzalez is now in Washington, D.C. and is demanding that his six-year old son be returned to him immediately. The boy is caught in a bitter custody struggle with anti-Castro relatives in Miami. Iowa Senator Tom Harkin says he agrees with the boy’s father. He say the “circus” has gone on long enough and the boy should be allowed to return to Cuba with his dad.Harkin, a democrat, says he can’t imagine what type of psychological harm the boy may have suffered in this whole ordeal.
