Sioux City Heelan hires new football coach

April 21, 2000 By admin

Roger Jansen has been named the new head football coach at Heelan High School in Sioux City. Jansen replaces Joe Malsam who had served as head coach since 1990. The job is not completely new to Jansen who filled in on an interim basis for Malsam in 1997 and led the Crusaders to a 9-0 regular season mark. He says the big thing in 1997 was that the kids worked hard and bought into his system.Malsam will remain at Heelan as an assistant principal.
