New college and university students hit by the farm crisis will have a little extra financial help when they enter school this fall. The Iowa College Student Aid Commission will soon send disaster relief money to schools in Iowa.Spokesman Gary Nichols says they’ll send nearly one million dollars to the colleges and universities in Iowa. Nichols says the schools will give grants to those students whose families have been hit by the farm crisis. He says students who’ve been hit by other disasters, such as flooding, could also be eligible.He says they want to let the students get a college degree without putting their families into deeper financial trouble.Nichols says any student starting school at a college or university this fall should check into the grants.Nichols doesn’t know exactly how many students might be interested in the program.
