The State Board of Regents today confirmed chemical engineering professor Richard Seagrave as the interim president of Iowa State University. Board Chairman Owen Newlin says Seagrave will take over August 14th when Martin Jischke leaves the job to become president of Purdue. The board also named Dr. Ben Allen, dean of the ISU College of Business, as chairman of the committee searching for a permanent replacement for Jischke. Newlin says they hope to be close to finding a replacement for Jischke by the end of the year, and Newlin expects to get a good crop of candidates now that the search is formally underway. The Regents are meeting today and tomorrow at the Lakeside Laboratory in Okoboji.
