Maze fails to grow up to its reputation, is closed

July 7, 2000 By admin

A popular northeast Iowa corn maze is -not- opening as scheduled due to a big problem — a lack of tall corn. The Country Heritage Community Maize Maze near Elkader was supposed to open this week. In the past, the four-acre maze has attracted visitors from all 50 states and 28 foreign countries. It was also voted the best new Iowa tourism attraction by the Iowa D-O-T in 1998.
