About a dozen members of the Green Party rallied at the statehouse today to celebrate putting their candidates on Iowa ballots. The party delivered three thousand petition signatures to the Secretary of State, ensuring the name of their presidential candidate — Ralph Nader — will be printed on Iowa ballots this November.Don Arenz of Iowa City, wore a green shirt to today’s rally. Arenz expects Nader to campaign in Iowa and all of the other 49 states. Many believe Nader’s candidacy will draw votes away from democrat Al Gore, helping republican George W. Bush to victory. Arenz offers a different assessment. He believes Nader will bring out more voters and that will help Democrats.Arenz is an English composition professor at Kirkwood Community College.
