Morningside looks to improve on last season

August 14, 2000 By admin

After making progress last season Morningside football coach Dave Elliott hopes to see his program take another step this year. The Mustangs finished 3-8 in 1999 and lost several close games along the way.In Elliott’s first few years on the job Morningside was simply outmanned. Now, he feels they are ready for a breakthrough season.Among the returnees is quarterback J.J. White who ranks eighth on the school’s career passing chart and also finished second on the team in rushing last season. The Mustangs open the season on August 31st at Northern Iowa and Elliott says the players see that game as a challenge.
