Iowans are getting all sorts of attention at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. The Iowa delegates have great seats on the convention floor, a smidge to the right of the speaker’s stand, just behind Vice Presidential nominee Joe Lieberman’s Connecticut delegation. Other Presidential wannabees are making connections with the Iowa delegation, and Iowans have had invitations to places like Spago, a fancy restaurant in Beverly Hills. Jan Olson of Sioux City says there’s a reason for all the attention: Iowa’s Caucuses, which will again be first-in-the-nation in 2004.Once this convention is over, Al Gore and Joe Lieberman take a bus tour down the Mississippi with six stops scheduled in Iowa.
