Tire recall creates backlog in Iowa

August 30, 2000 By admin

The national recall of some Firestone/Bridgestone tires is continuing to clog tire outlets across Iowa. Mike Ostercamp is service manager of an auto center in the northern Iowa town of Britt. Ostercamp says he’s getting calls every day from people who want to know about the risks, the particulars and the free replacement tires. He says it’ll be months before everyone can be taken care of as there are many more requests than there are tires available.Ostercamp says it will take patience on the consumers’ behalf, and quite a bit of time, before everyone’s rolling on new tires. He says it could be six months. The recalls are on Firestone A-T-X and A-T-X-2 tires in the P-2-3-5 size and the Wilderness tires of that same size. For more information, call Firestone at 800-465-1904.
