Postville man found guilty of murder

September 6, 2000 By admin

A northeast Iowa man faces life in prison after being convicted of murder. It took the jury only three hours to find 23-year old Gerardo Gonzalez of Postville guilty of first-degree murder. Gonzalez was accused of shooting 23-year-old Fransisco Costilla to death in January. The prosecution contended the shooting was spurred by an earlier argument. Gonzalez’s attorneys claimed he was too drunk to know what he was doing, and that he feared for his own safety. Gonzalez will be sentenced September 25th.
