A Statehouse campaign in western Iowa is heating up. It features democrat Russ Frazier against republican House Majority Leader Christopher Rants, both of Sioux City. Frazier has challenged Rants to sign a pledge not to spend more than 15-thousand dollars on his campaign.Frazier will also limit contributions from individuals to 500-dollars and one thousand dollars from groups. Frazier says the fundraising limits are important. The incumbent Rants says he won’t sign the pledge.Rants says Frazier can’t find support for his own campaign, so he’s trying to cut the support of his opponent. Rants says Frazier has already broken the pledge anyway.Rants says it takes more than 15-thousand dollars to run a good campaign, and he says voters aren’t all that interested in the campaign finance reform issue anyway.
