The long-shot democrat candidate in Iowa’s fifth congressional district has raised less than six-thousand dollars for his campaign, and Mike Palecek of Sheldon claims it’s the lowest-budget congressional campaign in the country. Palecek didn’t do it on purpose. He says he made lots of fundraising calls, but wasn’t able to raise a lot of cash.Palecek says he’s not getting any help from the Iowa Democratic Party nor from the Democratic National Committee. With such a tight budget, Palecek has employed some unusual campaign tactics. He’s placed a large “I like Mike” sign on his pick-up and he drives around northwest Iowa and parks at busy intersections.
