The Iowa Substance Abuse Information Center is expanding its statewide helpline to operate “twenty-four-seven.” Tressa Youngbear oversees the service that had previously only been available nine hours each day during weekdays. Youngbear says the helpline deals with three issues, starting with gambling. The also refer people to treatment programs and give crisis counseling.Youngbear says the helpline has been a good resource for parents looking for guidance in keeping their kids off drugs.She says they hope the extra hours will lead to more calls for information.Youngbear says they also offer help via the Internet.The web address is: www.drugfreeinfo.org.
